In this world, we have seen many items sold for astronomical prices. With amounts of money that most of us can only dream of having, never mind buying these items on this list. Still never the less, it is something that regularlyoccurs, and we love to see what wild spending people do.
1. The first will be the SussFrères Camera
What’s that? Well, it’s a very old camera. In fact, it is an antique from the year 1839, and this camera brought in a whopping $750,000 at an auction back in 2007. The Susse Frères daguerreotype camera is not only the only one left in the world,but it is also the believed to be the only antique camera of this type from that era. More interesting information about this camera is that SussFrères means brother’sSuss. The brothers built the first few marketed photo cameras that were designed by Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre.
2. Next we have a Magnetic Floating Bed.
This impressive bed came about in 2006. It is one of the most unusual items out there. This bed levitates at 1.3 feet off from the surface and can hold up to 2000 pounds. What is even more amazing is that it cost $1.6 million.
3. The Wallis Simpson Bracelet from 2010
is a diamond panther and onyx bracelet. It was once owned by Wallis Simpson, and it auctioned at 12.4 million at London’s Sotheby’s. It is one of the most expensivebracelets in the world. Indeed an extravagant bracelet. The BBC stated on December 1st of 2010 that “A bracelet owned by Wallis Simpson, who had an affair with Edward VIII led to the abdication of the king and sold for $7 million at auction.” The amazing bracelet does have a bit of history behind it.
4. Garcon, a la Pipe in the year 2004,
was considered the most expensive Pablo Picasso painting which sold for $104.2 million in an auction in New York City. The painting itself was painted by Pablo Picasso in 1905 when he was just 24 years old which was during what was known as his “Rose Period.” This period represents a time in Picassos life that his painting had an enormous impact on modern art. Alsothe name of the painting in English means, “The boy with a pipe.”
5. Card Players
Another historical Painter Paul Cezanne created the Card Players, which sold for 250 million to 300 million in an auction in 2011. The royal family of the city Qatar became the new owners of this fabulous treasure. It was obtained through a private sale. This was the most money ever spent on a single work of art. The Card Players was one of five paintings in a series of paintings that were made in the final period in the 1890’s. The series of pictures were all various sizes with different amounts of figures seen in each work of art.
6. The Villa La Leopolda
is the second most expensive house located on the French Rivera. It is worth $506 million and was made between 1929 to 1931 by an American architect known as Ogden Codman, Jr. The estate was once ruled by King Leopold of Belgium. This spectacular property was used in a film made by the famed Alfred Hitchcock called, “To Catch a Thief”.
7.”The Perfect Pink”
A luxurious piece of jewelry named, “The Perfect Pink” which is a rare pink diamond was sold at Christie’s auction in 2010 for an astounding $23 million dollars in Hong, Kong. It was the most expensive jewel sold in Asia. The pink diamond is 14.23 carats and sold exactly for $23,165,968 to a buyer after a hot and heavy bidding war with four other bidders. There has been only 18 pink diamond over 5 carats sold in the auctions, and none of them came close in color to “The Perfect Pink” sold at Christie’s auction.
8. The Chopard 201-Carat Watch
features three heart-shaped diamonds. The pink diamond weighs 15 caratsand the blue diamond weighs 12 carats, then lastly the white one weighs 11 carats. These diamonds assist in the price of this watch. Additionally the watch has clusters of white diamonds made up of a white flower motif where there is a yellow diamond in the center of each cluster. The watch is the most expensive in the world. In the year 2000, it was sold at $25 million. I don’t believe there will ever be a watch like this made again. If there is a new watch like this, it won’t be until the future.
9. The Pink Star
has been rated Vivid Pink and was mined by De Beers in 1999 in South Africa. It weighed a total of 132.5 carats when it was in the rough. This exquisite diamond was sold privately in 2007, and no one knows who the buyer was and how much he/she actually bought the diamond for, it remains private.
10. The Antilia Mumbai
is the house that is the most expensive in all of the world. It was named Atlantic Island of Antilia is twenty-seven stories high even though due to the height of some ceilings it is said to be closer to a 40 story skyscraper. It is a billion dollar tower in South Mumbai. A businessman named MuckeshAmbani, who is a chairman of Reliance Industries, owns and lives in this house.
The staff is six hundred active, and it is the most expensive house in India which is worth two billion dollars. The businessman lives in it with his wife and three children. His family uses the top floor as their living quarters to be closer to the sun. Along with many wonderful types of rooms, it contains a ballroom, a theater, pool, a multi-story garage that holds 168 of his person cars and 9 elevators. He is considered the richest man in India worth $22.3 billion.
So here were ten very expensive items. Items that many would never be able to spend in a lifetime. It certainly is fun to think about the amount of money that goes around this world.
